Educational Programs for Groups and Schools
Make your next event a memorable one with live animals! The Western New York Herpetological Society will come to your event, meeting, or class room to share the wonderful world of reptiles and amphibians with your group or school.
Our educational programs are led by volunteer members of the Society who will share their knowledge of herpetology with your group. Our programs cover:
- Basic Characteristics of Amphibians
- Basic Characteristics of Reptiles
- Types of Reptiles
- Turtles
- Lizards
- Snakes
- Questions and Answers Period
All educational programs include live animals and will allow the opportunity for the group to have an up-close encounter with the animals as well. Typical demonstrations last for about one hour. We will also work with you to cover any specific topics that your class or group may be learning about (i.e. desert animals, tropical animals, etc,) For large groups or events we can make arrangements to have multiple sessions or have a less formal presentation.
We gladly accept donations to the Society for our presentations. Our recommended donation for an hour long presentation is $75, though we would still be happy to accommodate your group if you have a limited budget. We can also accommodate multiple session or all-day events as well with enough advanced notice. Please about the specifics of your event so we can answer any questions you may have.
We are currently servicing groups, events, and schools in the Buffalo, NY metro area and beyond. Please schedule with us as far in advance as possible so that we can reserve that day for your group. We can't guarantee we will be available for requests in less than 60 days. We may ask for an additional donation to cover our members mileage for presentations outside the immediate Buffalo metro area. Please if you have any questions.
